A couple of Saturday’s ago, I packed my children up in the car and we went to see my nephew play basketball for his college team. Can I just tell you how tall yet agile these guys are, I mean I can’t believe how they can move and jump the way that they do, I suppose *that* is why they practice so much - but still, it amazes me. Ok, so on to the game and without going through my whole |insert your favorite basketball announcer here| routine, they sadly lost, but it was a close game and they played awesome! For me, I had a little time in the first quarter to capture some of Devin and it was certainly a different experience for me as a photographer, because I thought toddlers moved really fast - ummmm, these guys moved even faster. Just a soon as I was ready and focused on their 3 foot hight jump shot, they were already on their way down from the shot - man I was in for a lesson on sports photography!!

This first one was during warm-up, but yeah, still had a hard time getting it…

Here are two good defense moves on my nephew’s part (if I don’t say so myself :) )

And then here is my fave - a pretty good one of him making a basket, yet it still was a challenge for me to capture….

Take a look at the form on his hands for this free shot - yes, he did make it!!

Devin - you rock!

Marshmallow Toes

February 4, 2009

Ok, so hopefully you get a laugh out of this like I did. My youngest daughter has a severe case of sweet tooth, seriously, she acts as though I have never given her a sweet thing to eat EVER! Contrary to her actions, she gets plenty of sweets, probably because she is the youngest and certainly does fall into the birth order routine. This is where one lets things slip under the radar all the while knowing that it is *not* the way that you started out Mothering your first child, I mean the first child was lucky to have one smarty out of the whole pack in a 24 our period!! I believe I remember making certain that my first child had a starch, a protein and a vegetable at almost every meal from the time that she started eating solids! I don’t believe that letting my youngest have more sweets than her elder sister has affected her sense of humor though and here is a testament to that. She asked for some marshmallows and when I walked into the living room a little while later, this is what I saw -

She just had to demonstrate what her thought process was on this for me. She makes me laugh or giggle every day and *that* is what life is all about. Love you little miss M.
