I had the honor of taking some photographs of a local artist who uses watercolor as her medium. There is a special place in my heart for this wonderful woman and that is because she is the Godmother of my sister and a long-time family friend. What I adore about Dody Walters is her vivid personality, there has never been a time that I have been in Dody’s company that I have not laughed, her humor is infectious. I ALWAYS look forward to spending time with Dody, even if it is just running into her at a local restaurant! Dody is so talented and she has the most awesome story behind how she realized her potential as an artist, that is an amazing story for another day. Dody Walters has her work displayed throughout the community in places like the Historic Kenan Center in Lockport, NY to local restaurants and art shows. You may contact her at (716) 799-7983 for an appointment to see her work. Enjoy…….
Here’s Dody Walters showing us how she puts the finishing touches on her art…
And I just could not resist a photo of her by her classy vinatage car…
Hope you enjoyed a taste of her beautiful work, there is soooo much more to see in her studio.
Hugs,
Patrice
Shortly before my father passed on, he had found a treasure in his basement that he decided to give to my oldest daughter. Now my oldest is only 8 (and was 5 when he passed), but she has a keen memory and fondly remembers the times that she spent with Grandpa and how he used to love to make orange sodas to drink with her and the Teddy Grahms that they used to sit and eat together in his sunroom. She remembers how he would always have a little project for them to do together whenever she came to visit, whether it was to plant some seeds in pots to get ready for spring planting or clean out the wood stove together or to just sit in silence together. I’m vearing from the original reason for this post, but stay with me, we will get to that basement relic…
First, since we are on the topic I just have to tell you this little story about my daughter and Grandpa. My daughter had never slept with any kind of comforting object, not a special blanket or a special stuffed animal, she just never wanted to. But one night when she was 5, she went into her bedroom and dug to the bottom of her toy box and came out with a teddy bear and asked me if it was alright if she slept with that bear that night. I told her that would be just fine, all the time thinking that was a little strange that the age of 5 she wanted to start sleeping with a stuffed animal, but who was I to question it. The next morning, Grandpa passed on, that bear that my daughter had gone into her toy box for, well it was the one that Grandpa had given to her (with a lot of pride) on the Christmas before. She is now 8 and has slept with that teddy bear every night since.
Ok, so on to the reason for this post :) … that relic in the basement was an original Warner Brothers Bugs Bunny piggy bank. As a family, we have decided to make this piggy bank our Disney fund, so any spare change and dollar bills from gifts go into this bank to fund a family trip to Disney! And… without further ado, here is the relic posing for us…
